Local Teen Starts Non-Profit, Opens Booth at Apple n' Pork Festival

width=Clinton teenager Luka Case (right with Jasper) has a rare condition that causes her to have seizures very frequently.

It is because of her rare disease and her need for a service dog that she started the non-profit, "Dog-On Disabilities". The organization seeks to help people who cannot afford a service dog, find one. She explains it all goes back to her experience getting her own service dog, Jasper.

According to Case, the dog can smell when she is going to have a seizure and will alert her through nudges on her leg. She explains he can be a very focused dog even when there are a lot of distractions around him.

Case and Jasper had a little bit of a transition in getting to know each other. She explains they got along right away but she said the transition wasn't exactly as she expected.

Case, along with her friends and family, operated the pulled pork nacho stand on the grounds of the CH Moore Homestead during the Apple n' Pork Festival. According to Case, they ran out of meat on Saturday.

She was not sure what the festival would net them for income, but indicates they are working to come up with other fundraising efforts in the future.
