On November 7th, DeWitt county hunters will have the chance to prepare for firearm deer season at the Sheriff’s firing range. Sheriff Jered Shofner announced that the first “Hunters range day” will be sponsored by his office , Clinton Police Department, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources Police.

Interested hunters must reserve a 30 minute slot between 8am and 4 pm. Six slots are available for each time period. Reservations can be made by calling 217-935-9507 during business hours, or by email to sheriffshofner@dewittcountyill.com Hunters are asked to arrive 15 minutes early for a safety briefing.

The Sheriff’s range is located on 9930 Revere Road, Clinton, directly east of the DeWitt County Highway Department. The program is limited to DeWitt County residents.
