Monticello Schools Projecting Surplus Budget

 width=It's not a huge projection, but Monticello schools are anticipating a surplus budget.

Schools Superintendent Dr. Vic Zimmerman (right) indicates they are projecting a budget surplus of over $50-thousand. Dr. Zimmerman indicates it's the first surplus budget they've had since he's taken over.

The Corporate Personal Property Replacement Tax, or CPPRT, is the biggest source of revenue for Monticello Schools and Dr. Zimmerman indicates that revenue is expected to be a little higher this coming year.

According to Dr. Zimmerman, the CPPRT revenue is up and down along with the business climate of the state. He explains when they are fortunate to get more of those revenues, they don't spend them, instead, they tuck them away for a rainy day.
