Senator Dick Durbin was recently bypassed in the race to succeed Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.

Durbin's former Washington roommate Chuck Schumer is set to succeed Reid when he leaves office in early 2017. Durbin says he is happy to avoid a major lifestyle change.
