There's no shortage of finger pointing in Springfield with the budget saga and now the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police is jumping into the fray.

They are concerned about funds for police training that are now on hold because of the stalemate. FOP State Lodge President Chris Southwood is placing the blame for what they call a hostage situation with Governor Rauner.

Southwood also is disappointed with the lack of stopgap measures.

A press release from the FOP says "Governor Rauner, don't shoot the hostage. Negotiate in good faith with the Illinois General Assembly to end this budget crisis.”

The Rauner Administration has released a statement. "Given the violence in Chicago and challenges facing the state, taxpayers will undoubtedly be disappointed to hear this type of imagery invoked against the governor while he is standing up for them. Taxpayers understand that state government has been broken for years and want reforms to the status quo. Unfortunately, while the governor continues to offer compromises, the super majority running the legislature continues blocking reforms to fix the budget and grow jobs."
