Mild Weather Returning to Central Illinois

Some areas of Illinois saw their first frost this past weekend. Is that the first sign of the end of mild autumn weather?

Chris Miller with the National Weather Service Lincoln office says winter isn’t closing in just yet, last weekend’s chilly temps will likely be the last frost we see until sometime in November.

Miller explains the National Weather Service is always looking for volunteer spotter. Becoming an official weather spotter involves taking a free two hour course offered in communities around the state by the NWS.

In addition to helping the weather service, spotter training can help your own peace of mind. When you look out the window at threatening weather the training will help you know whether it’s time to worry or not.
