Clinton Schools Score High on Financial Audit

width=The leader of the Clinton School district is reporting a strong report from their most recent financial audit.

Clinton Superintendent Curt Nettles explains the Clinton audit was another good audit. This is something districts must do on a yearly basis, and Nettles notes there were only minor procedural notes they will need to adjust.

The first year Superintendent says the previous administration deserves a lot of credit for the excellent scores because the audit is for the previous year. Nettles indicates the budget ended balanced with a good amount of cash reserves on hand.

The district receives a financial profile number and according to Nettles there are five categories considered in that score, which includes five categories. He indicates they received a 3.9/4.

When looking at an overview of the Clinton budget, over 80% of their revenues come from local sources. It is because of that, Nettles believes the state needs to back off on some of their mandates and allow for more local control.

Nettles says the document is public and would be willing to sit down with anyone and explain what is in it and go through the various details of the audit report.

As he looks at this year's budget, Nettles points out, the uncertainty in Springfield has created a lot of questions about where their budget will ultimately end up. He says state payments currently are on time, however, if a budget is reached, he could see them pulling the plug on a great deal of their revenues after the start of the year.
