Low income residents who want to make sure their children have a merry Christmas are encouraged to check out the DeWitt County Angel Tree program.

According to Sue Calvert, Direct of Angel Tree in DeWitt County, the program aims to provide low income residents and their children with the opportunities of Christmas they may not otherwise be able to afford.

Applications for this year are due by Friday, October 30. Calvert explains the families in the program are screened and there are income guidelines.

Calvert hopes anyone who thinks they might qualify for the program to inquire about the program.
