Millikin University To Break Ground on New Commons Building

 width=A central Illinois school is breaking ground on a major project this week.

This Friday, Millikin University will be holding a ceremony to officially break ground on the new University Commons, the largest square-footage building project in university history.

The ceremony will be held outside Staley Library beginning at 10:30 a.m.

According to a release by the school, The University Commons is one of three building projects under Millikin University's $85 million "Transform MU" capital campaign (TMU).

Millikin University President Dr. Patrick E. White and James R. Neff, Chairman of the Millikin Board of Trustees, will speak during the ceremony.

Construction for the 87,000-square-foot facility is expected to be in full swing in early 2016 and completion prior to the start of the fall 2017 semester.
