CPD: No Foul Play In Clinton Man's Death

width=Officials are reporting that foul play has been ruled out in the Monday death of a Clinton man.

The Clinton Police Department reports the autopsy of 59-year old Paul R. Cox, of Clinton, determined that no foul play was involved in his death.

According to a release, the autopsy conducted Monday in McLean County revealed that Cox died of a single neck injury sustained as a result from a fall from standing height, coupled with pre-existing medical conditions. Toxicology results will not be available for several weeks, but officials believe they are also expected to have been a factor in the death.

The Clinton Police Department, the DeWitt County Coroner's Office, Illinois State Police Zone 5 Investigations, and Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services all took part in the investigation. That investigation has been closed.

Cox's body was discovered early Monday morning in the 500 block of East Van Buren Street when a person lying face down along the roadway was reported by a passerby. He was pronounced dead on the scene by DeWitt County Coroner Randy Rice.
