MADD Honors Jesse White

As the Holiday Season approaches, the threat of drunken driving grows. Mothers against Drunk Driving says Illinois is ahead of the curve in efforts to keep drunken drivers off the streets and highways.

As a result, they have named Secretary of State Jesse White the 2015 Legislative Champion.

MADD National President Colleen Sheehey-Church is saluting White for his emphasis on interlock devices that prevent drunken drivers from shifting from park to drive.

White says he has no intention of resting on his laurels. While many traditonally think of New Year's Eve as the most dangerous night when it comes to facing impaired drivers, White says the biggest threat now arrives on hump day this week.

MADD reports interlock devices prevented convicted DUI offenders from operating a vehicle more than 755,000 times since 2009.
