University of Illinois Alum Legislator Blasting Alma Matter

 width=A local lawmaker who hold two degrees from the University of Illinois is not pleased with the way things are going at their flagship campus in his district.

State Sen. Chapin Rose says everyone within a 90 mile radius of Champaign-Urbana and the University of Illinois wants see the University succeed, but he says it becomes painful to watch when they "shoot themselves in the foot" over and over.

The University has seen it's share of scandals which has led to interim positions all over the campus and Sen. Rose says in order to restore their image across the state, they need to do a better job of reaching their supporters.

Most in the 90-mile radius Sen. Rose refers to would probably indicate they are disappointed in the sports programs and uncertainties there, however, he says there are greater concerns beyond those select few programs.

Sen. Rose says the University needs to win back over those in central Illinois that root for the University and it's athletic teams.
