It's been a few years since a conference change has been discussed at a school board level in Lincoln, but the discussion appears to be back on the table.
Superintendent Robert Bagby indicates the school has received three calls from central Illinois sports conferences about joining their conference. Bagby says the Big 12, Corn Belt and Apollo conferences have approached them.

Bagby believes there are pros and cons with each conference they have been approached about. He believes the Big 12 would probably not be the best fit for them, but the Apollo and Corn Belt might be the most appealing.

In the beginning many conference were aligned based on not only school enrollment but also geographical location and travel times. Bagby says a lot of the travel and distance consideration has gone by the wayside but for them it is still a consideration.

Bagby says the decision will be discussed by the Board of Education and ultimately will be their decision. He says before any decision is made, there will be public meetings to allow the community their opportunity to be heard.
He says their school board president is committed to doing what is best for all their students, not just those in one particular sport.
