'Bama's Henry, Stanford's McCaffrey, Clemson QB Watson Heisman FInalists

width=There will be three finalists for the 2015 Heisman Trophy, which will be awarded on Dec. 12 in New York City. Those three finalists for the 2015 Heisman Trophy are: Alabama RB Derrick Henry, Clemson QB Deshaun Watson and Stanford RB Christian McCaffrey.

There were just three finalists for the 2014 Heisman Trophy, as Oregon's Marcus Mariota won over Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon and Alabama WR Amari Cooper. In 2013, there were six finalists when Florida State's Jameis Winston won the award.

Derrick Henry led the nation this year with 1,986 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns on 339 carries for Alabama.

Christian McCaffrey broke the NCAA's single-season all-purpose yards record, previously held by Barry Sanders, with 3,496 yards (including 1,847 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on 319 carries).

Deshaun Watson led Clemson to an undefeated record, throwing for 3,512 yards, 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while completing 69.2 percent of his passes. Watson also rushed for 887 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Quarterbacks have won the Heisman Trophy the past five years and 13 of the last 15. The last running back to win the Heisman was Alabama running back Mark Ingram.

>>LSU's Fournette Snubbed

When the Heisman Trophy finalists were announced on Monday night, LSU star running back Leonard Fournette was not one of them.

Only three players will head to New York City for the presentation on Saturday, and the early-season favorite for the award did not end up on the final list.

Fournette posted a very simple message on Twitter noting his disappointment in not being named a finalist.

Fournette bolted out of the gate to an incredible start to the season, but his production tailed off towards the end of the season as LSU struggled down the stretch. His 1,741 yards and 18 touchdowns were not enough to earn him a trip to New York, despite leading the country in rushing yards per game and playing two fewer games than Alabama star Derrick Henry.

width=>>Texas Offers Offensive Coordinator Job To TCU's Sonny Cumbie

TCU co-offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie has met with Texas coach Charlie Strong, who offered Cumbie the Longhorns' offensive coordinator position, a source tells CBS Sports' Dennis Dodd.

The Longhorns had their offensive issues this season. Then-coordinator Shawn Watson was demoted after the season's second game. Receivers coach Jay Norvell was elevated to coordinator for the final 10 games of the season.

Cumbie just completed his second year helping coordinate a TCU offense that took off after he and Doug Meacham were hired by coach Gary Patterson.

HornsDigest.com previously reported the Strong-Cumbie interview earlier Monday.

Cumbie, 34, is a former Texas Tech quarterback. In his two seasons, TCU has finished fifth and third nationally in total offense. Quarterback Trevone Boykin had become a Heisman Trophy frontrunner at TCU until suffering an injury.
