With the agreement, the Cubs then traded infielder Starlin Castro to the New York Yankees for right-hander Adam Warren and a player to be named.

The 25-year-old Castro hit .265 with 11 home runs and 69 RBIs last season. He's spent most of his career at shortstop, but shifted over to second base late this year.

The 28-year-old Warren was went 7-7 with a 3.29 ERA last season. He made 17 starts and pitched 43 games overall.

>>Dbacks, Braves Strike Deal of Promising Young Talent

The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to a deal that will land them starting pitcher Shelby Miller from the Atlanta Braves, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

The Diamondbacks were among the best offensive teams in baseball last season, but went 79-83 thanks mostly to having a poor pitching staff. They now have former All-Star Patrick Corbin fully back from Tommy John surgery, signed big-time ace Zack Greinke and have added Miller. It goes without saying that the rotation should be exponentially better next season for Arizona.

Miller, 25, was 6-17 last season but that figure is incredibly misleading due to Miller playing for a terrible team and having pretty bad luck in terms of run support. He had a 3.02 ERA and 1.25 WHIP with 171 strikeouts in 205 1/3 innings. He made the All-Star team thanks to a 2.07 ERA through his first 17 starts.

Dansby Swanson is the highly regarded shortstop the Diamondbacks drafted first overall last June out of Vanderbilt. He's the first No. 1 overall pick to be traded while still in the minors since Adrian Gonzalez.

Ender Inciarte, 25, hit .303/.338/.408 with 27 doubles and 21 stolen bases last season to go along with very good defense at all three outfield spots.

Aaron Blair, 23, was ranked as the 40th-best prospect in baseball by Baseball America last spring. A 6-foot-5 right-handed pitcher, Blair had a 2.92 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 120 strikeouts in 160 1/3 innings across both Double-A and Triple-A last season.
