Bears' S Rolle Goes to IR; Packers Sign DE Daniels To Extension

width=Chicago Bears safety Antrel Rolle will miss the remainder of the season because of a sprained right knee.

The Bears placed Rolle on injured reserve on Monday. An 11-year veteran, he suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in practice last month and has not played since Nov. 15.

The three-time Pro Bowl safety appeared in seven games after signing with Chicago in March. He has 26 interceptions with the Arizona Cardinals and New York Giants. With Rolle going on IR, the Bears reinstated offensive tackle Tayo Fabuluje to the 53-man roster after having an exemption for him last week.

Coach John Fox said defensive back Sherrick McManis suffered concussion symptoms after Sunday's loss to Washington and receiver Marquess Wilson had foot surgery.

>>Packers Ink DE Daniels To Extension

width=The Green Bay Packers have long been believers in the virtues of drafting and developing players, then keeping those players they feel are part of the future around for the long term. On Monday, they continued that practice with the signing of defensive end Mike Daniels to a 4-year, $42 million extension that contains a $12 million signing bonus and $22 million in the first 15 months, a source told CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora.

The deal makes Daniels the third-highest paid 3-4 defensive end in the NFL behind only J.J. Watt and Calais Campbell.

Daniels has been arguably the best player on Green Bay's defense. In addition to his 4.0 sacks, Daniels has 44 quarterback pressures on the year, per tracking done by Pro Football Focus. That's the fifth most among 3-4 defensive ends. On a per-rush basis, he's been the third best among players at that position. He also has 22 run stops, via PFF's tracking, sixth-most among 3-4 ends. In their overall grades, only Watt tops Daniels so far this season.

Daniels is 26 years old, so if he plays out the full deal, he'll stay in Green Bay through his age-30 season. Along with Aaron Rodgers and Bryan Bulaga, he is one of three players on the team signed through 2019.

>>Beckham, Manning Lead Giants Over Dolphins

Odell Beckham's 84-yard touchdown reception put the Giants ahead to stay with 11 minutes to go, and they forged a three-way tie atop the NFC East by beating the Miami Dolphins 31-24 on Monday night.

New York's Eli Manning went 27 for 31 for 337 yards and four scores. His passer rating of 151.5 was his highest since 2009, and his 87 percent completion percentage was a career best.

Beckham finished with seven catches for 166 yards and the game's final two scores. The 100-yard game was his sixth in a row, a Giants record.

He outplayed his close friend and former LSU teammate, Miami's Jarvis Landry, who made 11 catches for 99 yards but was flagged for a costly personal foul penalty with his team trailing in the fourth quarter.

Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for 236 yards and burned a blitz by throwing deep to Kenny Stills for a 47-yard score that put Miami ahead 24-17.

The Dolphins were hurt by 12 penalties and seemed reluctant to run the ball, as has been the case most of the year. Lamar Miller rushed for 89 yards, including a darting 38-yard touchdown run after making Jason Pierre-Paul miss, but carried only 12 times.

The Giants (6-7) broke a three-game losing streak and are tied with the Redskins and Eagles for the lead in their woeful division.
