Alabama Blasts Michigan State To Head To National Title Game

Jake Coker was terrific on the big stage and the Alabama defense overpowered Michigan State's offense as the Crimson Tide completely dominated the Spartans in a 38-0 route in the Cotton Bowl, punching the Tide's ticket to the National Title game, where they will meet Clemson.

Coker finished 25 of 30 for 286 yards and two touchdowns, both to Calvin Ridley.

Ridley hauled in eight passes for 138 yards.

Leading 10-0 late in the first half, the Spartans had a chance to get on the board, but a Connor Cook pass for Michigan State was picked by Cyrus Jones, ending the last real threat the Spartans would pose to the 'Bama defense.

The Tide opened the second half with a 10 play, 82 yard drive capped by a sensational 6-yard catch by Ridley.

The catch, originally ruled incomplete, was reversed after being review. From there, it was all Tide.

Alabama racked up 449 yards of total offense on one of the country's top defensive units.

Heisman winner Derrick Henry carried the ball 20 times for 75 yards and two touchdowns.

Cook had a forgetable day for the Spartans, finishing 19 of 39 for 210 yards and two interceptions.

Jones also had a 57 yard punt return for a TD for Alabama.

The national championship game is Monday, January 11.
