DeWitt County Officials & Businesses Donate New Red Cross Van

width=The DeWitt County American Red Cross Response Team officially has a new van.

Officials with DeWitt County and the City of Clinton officially turned over a new cargo van to local Red Cross Tuesday morning. County Board Chair Dave Newberg explains the van was purchased through the help of several local businesses. He says the county's part in the effort was to include the vehicle on their fleet insurance policy to make sure the group is not without a vehicle in the future.

Leslie Cyrulik is the Co-Captain of the local Red Cross team. She is very grateful to the businesses that made the van a reality, and says the new van will increase the team's ability to quickly respond to DeWitt County fires and disasters.

According to Cyrulik, house fires are the primary reason the local Response Team is called out. She explains the services provided by the Red Cross on the scene of those events.

The new Red Cross van was made possible by contributions from DeWitt County, the City of Clinton, Exelon, Clinton Landfill, Marco NPK, Douglas Dodge, and the graphics were donated by K&K Graphics. The van will be stored at the DeWitt County building, and is available to Red Cross volunteers at any time.
