A proposal to change how Illinois legislative maps are drawn isn’t coming from the legislature, it’s coming from an independent group collecting hundreds of thousands of signatures so you can decide.
Jim Bray, a spokesman for the group Independent Maps Amendment, says they’re well on their way towards asking voters this November to take the map making power away from politicians.

Bray says an end of year report for supporters indicates they’ve collected over 480,000 signatures, around $3 million, and support from editorial boards across the state.
