At a recent meeting of area school leaders in Illinois, one local school leader says he's frustrated after a proposal he heard.
At the latest Regional Superintendents Meeting, Mike Williams, who is the Superintendent of Maroa-Forsyth Schools says a proposal they received is very misleading. According to Williams, the state is proposing redirecting funds from a mandate and diverting them to their general state aid.

Williams says the problem is the state is promoting the change as an increase in the funding to their general state aid, but he calls it "a wash for districts".

For Williams, his biggest issue with the change is the way it is being presented. He calls it "deceitful" for the state to handle it this way.

Williams say districts will still be able to fund the program but feels the way it is presented, it isn't an increase, it's the combining of two funds.
