Illinois Future Caucus Formed

Congress has No Labels. The Illinois General Assembly now has the Illinois Future Caucus.

Republican Tom Demmer is one of its founding members. The idea is to bring together Democrats and Republicans who are willing to find common ground from which to start building a consensus around legislation.

Demmer says it’s possible and necessary for people with different views of a problem to get together and work out a solution.

Demmer and Chicago Democrat Will Guzzardi announced the caucus’s formation last week. Future Caucus is aware that younger people are more likely to cross party lines so Demmer and other young legislators have come together in the caucus. Many younger voters identify with libertarian policies, although they don’t necessarily adhere as strictly as Libertarian Party members.
