Governor Standing Behind Budget Process

As the state continues into a new calendar year without a budget the continued lack of a spending plan and paying bills is increasing the toll to social agencies.

Lutheran Social Services of Illinois says they are going to close over 30 programs and eliminate more than 750 positions after they waited months for millions in state payments. The statewide group will be suspending services to more than 4,500 people.

Yesterday, Governor Bruce Rauner said he still stands on the side of needing reforms to be passed in order to craft a balanced budget.
