DeWitt County Working To Produce Roadmap For Future

 width=As the leadership of DeWitt County looks to the future, the imminent need for an updated plan is rather obvious.

David Newberg is the DeWitt County Board Chair and he indicates the comprehensive plan that is in place now is roughly 20 years old, leaving a huge need to be updated. Newberg indicates the process of doing so is underway.

Newberg explains it was roughly ten years ago the County tried to update their comprehensive plan through the University of Illinois, but that did not pan out.

Utilizing the strengths of the area are going to be a focus of the planning team. According to Newberg identifying what type of community you are is likely the first step but then he says utilizes resources like Clinton Lake will be incorporated.

As the comprehensive plan is being formed, the plan the University of Illinois put together is not being completely disregarded. Officials with the DeWitt County Development Council indicate that plan is being evaluated for things that might still be relevant and can be used in the upcoming comprehensive plan.
