The Scovill Zoo in Decatur opens this weekend for the season.

Director of the Decatur Zoo, Ken Frye, says the weekend opening and the first few months, the hours will be limited but he anticipates that not slowing the crowds, especially if the weather is good.

Frye indicates they have a lot of new animals at the zoo this year including some babies they're expecting in the coming weeks and a few more that should be on display as the season moves along.

The zoo is also expected to put on display howler monkeys this summer along with a new snake.
