Exelon Takes Next Step In Decommissioning Clinton Power Station

The next step has been taken by Exelon officials to to decommission the plant in Clinton and the Quad Cities.

Brett Nauman, Communications Manager at Clinton Exelon Nuclear Power Station says the Nuclear Regulatory Commission has been notified of the intent of Exelon to close their plants.

Nauman says if the legislation is passed, Exelon could undo the notification, but emphasizes, with each passing week without a bill from Springfield, the odds of that happening decrease.

September has been viewed as a deadline for a deal in Springfield and while that is somewhat accurate, Nauman explains that is more of a deadline for Exelon to got to the annual MISO auction.

Legislation in Springfield is moving forward but it is incremental.
