Community Action To Take on Strategic Planning

Most organizations take on strategic planning every three to five years, some longer, but one DeWitt County and central Illinois non-profit agency is taking it on again this year.

Alison Rumler-Gomez is the Executive Director of Community Action and indicates strategic planning is not far off for them. She explains their recent mission shift has required them to analyze their strategic plan every year.

Strategic planning at Community Action happens at the executive level. According to Rumler-Gomez, they'll do community assessments and take the advice of the organization leadership.

As Community Action looks ahead, Rumler-Gomez indicates they have a few areas of need they are seeing. She explains child care for those in their programs and substance abuse are just a few of the areas they will focus on in the upcoming planning process.

Rumler-Gomez indicates addressing heroin might be a challenge because that is not directly related to the issues they address as an agency.

She also notes program reductions are not likely this year. She feels Community Action has made enough of those types of changes in recent years.
