Weather A Factor in Lower Deer Kill Count

It was a busy weekend for the state’s deer hunters. Over all the first weekend of shotgun season saw more than 54,000 deer killed.

The numbers are down from last year by about four thousand and Tim Schweizer with Illinois Department of Natural Resources says the weather may be to blame for downward trend in harvest numbers.

Shotgun hunters have another chance to go out into the woods from December 1st to the 4th.
