US Congressman Rodney Davis says the debt ceiling being raised this week was something that needed to be done.
He says it comes down to paying bills and also helping those in the south dealing with the devastation from Hurricane Harvey.
Davis wanted more than a three month extension, noting he does not like having a deadline.
He called the agreement with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi the Presidents olive branch to the Democrats.
