The Lincoln Heritage Committee of DeWitt County, the Warner Public Library, DeWitt
County Genealogical Society, DeWitt-Clinton?Chapter DAR, and the C.H. Moore
Homestead DeWitt County Museum together are present a program titled
'Illinois'Bicentennial, With a Tip of the Hat to the Lincoln’s this Thursday night.
The presentation features Dr. Samuel Wheeler. Dr. Wheeler is the tenth State Historian in
Illinois history and specializes in the history of the Prairie State, the Civil War Era, and the
life and legacy of Abraham Lincoln.
In addition to serving as a member of the Illinois Bicentennial Commission, Dr. Wheeler is
the Director of Research and Collections at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and
Museum in Springfield, where he oversees the state’s most treasured artifacts and
documents related to the sixteenth president and the first two centuries of Illinois history.
The event will be held on Thursday night a 6:30 pm at the Warner Public Library's Revere
Ware Room, 310 North Quincy Street in Clinton. For more information about this event,
