Monticello Approves New Public Works Building

This week, the Monticello City Council approved a new public works building.

Mayor Larry Stoner says it will consolidate their current operation as they are spread all over the community at different locations.

According to the Mayor, the new building will be a much bigger facility and replace a tract of land with a couple small buildings. He feels it will be a much better situation for the department.

There will be an expansion of their machine shed service area to repair their vehicles. Additionally, the Mayor points it will have new offices for their staff as well.

Designs on the project will start to come out in the coming months. This project gets approval at the same time the City has an ongoing wastewater treatment rebuild happening as well.
