The five-member strong Illinois Commerce Commission has the power to regulate utilities, approve utility rates, license trucking and towing companies and oversees railroad safety and crossing improvements. State Senator Andy Manar (D-Bunker Hill) is raising a concern about the panel; why are all the members from Cook and DuPage counties? Earlier this week, the Senate Executive Appointments Committee voted to recommend two more of Rauner's pending appointments to the commission. Both appointees are also from Chicago. One of the recommendations then went to the full Senate for approval on Monday afternoon. The Senate voted 45-1 for approval. Manar cast the single no-vote.
