THE UNEMPLOYMENT RATE FELL IN MOST OF THE STATE’S METRO AREAS LAST MONTH. 

 

THE STATE JOBLESS RATE WAS DOWN IN 12 OF THE 14 METRO AREAS COMPARED TO YEAR AGO LEVELS. ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT SECURITY SPOKESPERSON BOB GOUGH SAYS THERE WAS SOME JOB GROWTH AS WELL.


 

 

ALL BUT TWO OF ILLINOIS’ METRO AREAS SAW AN OVER-THE-YEAR DECREASE IN THE JOBLESS RATE. BLOOMINGTON WAS UNCHANGED COMPARED TO SEPTEMBER OF LAST YEAR AND CHAMPAIGN-URBANA SAW A SLIGHT INCREASE. STATE DEPARTMENT OF EMPLOYMENT SECURITY SPOKESPERSON BOB GOUGH SAYS MORE THAN 55 THOUSAND JOBS WERE GAINED…ESPECIALLY IN THE CHICAGO AREA, THE QUAD CITIES, KANKAKEE AND ROCKFORD.

 

 

GOFF SAYS ILLINOIS SAW ITS LOWEST NUMBER OF UNEMPLOYMENT CLAIMS FILED IN THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER IN 45 YEARS.
