THE STATE BOARD OF ELECTIONS IS REMINDING THE PUBLIC THAT ANY CLAIMS OF ONLINE VOTING IN ILLINOIS ARE FAKE.

VOTERS SHOULD BE AWARE THAT ANY WEBSITE, APP, SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNT OR TEXT OFFERING TO LET YOU CAST A BALLOT ONLINE, IS BOGUS. BOARD SPOKESPERSON MATT DIETRICH SAYS ONLINE VOTING IS NOT ALLOWED ANYWHERE IN THE U-S…AND THAT THIS IS A SCAM THAT HAS POPPED UP BEFORE.

DIETRICH URGES THOSE WHO GET A TEXT OR SEE INFORMATION ABOUT VOTING ONLINE TO REPORT IT TO THE BOARD BY EMAILING: SCAM ALERT AT ELECTIONS DOT IL DOT GOV.

THE PROBLEM WAS AN ISSUE IN 2016 AS WELL…WHERE TEXTS, SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS AND WEBSITES OFFERED TO LET PEOPLE CAST A BALLOT ONLINE. THAT’S NOW ALLOWED AND IS LIKELY A RUSE TO INFLUENCE NEXT WEEK’S ELECTIONS SAYS BOARD SPOKESPERSON MATT DIETRICH.

DIETRICH REMINDS ALTHOUGH YOU CAN’T VOTE ONLINE…YOU CAN CAST YOUR BALLOT NOW THROUGH EARLY VOTING AT CERTAIN LOCATIONS IN YOUR AREA OR ON ELECTION DAY AT YOUR REGULAR POLLING PLACE.
