As school districts begin to look at school improvement plans, one district says a recently introduced program is showing early results.
Warrensburg-Latham Schools introduced a program called 'Achieve 3000' and their Superintendent, Dr. Kristen Kendrick-Weikle explains its a Pre-K through ninth grade focused program that focuses on improving reading skills.
Dr. Kendrick-Weikle says thanks to this program, they have seen great success, especially at their lower levels. She says to date, a lot of their students have exceeded their goals.
Along with plenty of academic goals in their school improvement plans, Dr. Kendrick-Weikle says their building principals will also set social and emotional goals for their students. She says it is important to help their students work through a variety of emotions.
