Chief Lowers: Stay In, Stay Warm

The coldest temperatures central Illinois has seen in several years is upon us and local authorities are offering up some safety tips for the next few days.

 

Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers says the best advice is if you don't have to travel, don't and stay inside and keep warm.

 

 

Chief Lowers also encourages a check on your elderly friends and neighbors. He also emphasizes bringing in pets from the elements. He says they take animal complaints in this weather very seriously. 

 

 

Other tips from Chief Lowers:

 

>>Keep your gas tanks full

>>Keep a charged cell phone as you travel

>>Keep a blanket, extra food and water in your vehicle in the event you are stranded

>>If your car does break down, do not get out and keep as much of the heat available in your car
