Tradewind Energy Announces Power Purchase Agreement for Alta Farms II Wind Project

Tradewind Energy Wednesday announced a power purchase agreement with the Indiana Municipal Power Agency for power generated from the Illinois-based wind project, Alta Farms Wind Project II.

Project Development Manager for Tradewind Energy, Tom Swierczewski says it's an exciting announcement for the community.

Opponents of the project cite the wind farm's energy creation going outside the area but Swierczewski points to the harvest of crops in DeWitt County and all over the state that regularly ends up outside the area.

Alta Farms Wind Project II represents an investment of approximately $290 million and will generate enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of more than 64,000 U.S. homes per year. Construction of the wind project is anticipated to begin in 2019 and should be completed by the end of 2020.

Raj Rao, president and CEO of IMPA said in a release Wednesday, quote - “IMPA’s agreement with Alta Farms enables the Agency to bolster our diverse power supply portfolio with additional renewable energy. Alta Farms Wind Project II is a welcome addition to our portfolio, reinforcing our goal to provide our municipally-owned utilities in Indiana and Ohio with a power supply that is low-cost, reliable, and environmentally responsible.”
