National Weather Service Says Records Were Set Wednesday

Record cold temperatures and wind chills were set Wednesday during an unheard cold spell.

Chris Miller says they are still collecting all the data but right now, McLean County had record lows and record wind chills.

Miller broke down some of the lows and wind chills across central Illinois in the Regional Radio listening area....

If you don't like Illinois weather, just wait a few days and it's sure to change. That old adage will hold true as Miller indicates we're going to get close to 60-degrees by Monday.

The quick change is thanks to an upper-level weather pattern. Miller explains the cold arctic is moving out bringing a strong, southwestern flow into the area.

Before the warm-up, expect up to a few inches of snow in parts of central Illinois. A winter weather advisory is in effect for the northern portion of central Illinois until 3 am Friday morning.
