Rep. Caulkins Talks Marijuana Legalization

While being opposed by many advocacy groups across the state, the legalization of marijuana looks like it will become the front and center issue under new Governor JB Pritzker and a local lawmaker says he is opposed to this.

State Representative Dan Caulkins says he is against the legalization of marijuana in Illinois because it would be going against federal laws. He calls the increased revenue argument " a terrible approach".

Caulkins believes studies are beginning to show states with legalized sales of recreational marijuana are showing increased hazards when it comes to overall health, mental health and the rise in traffic accidents.

Caulkins says this isn't the solution to the financial problems in Illinois, which he calls a spending problem.
