Raising awareness surrounding distracted driving is the key to this week by local authorities.

Distractions behind the wheel have never been higher with all the technology available to drivers in today's world and local authorities hope to make everyone aware of the consequences distracted driving can have. Clinton Police Chief Ben Lowers indicates that is their focus this week.

Authorities across the state have been promoting Scott's Law, which mandates drivers move over for emergency vehicles on the side of the road. Chief Lowers believes distracted driving and Scott's Law goes hand in hand for motorists.

While the Scott's Law detail has come and gone, Chief Lowers indicates he is still focused on it and says his fellow officers and law enforcement leaders are becoming increasingly cognizant of the fact drivers are not following the law and are taking measures to better protect each other.
