Tradewind Energy Committed to Limiting Flashing Lights if Wind Farm Plan Approved

It could be a unique aspect of any wind development project in Illinois as Tradewind officials say they are committed to limiting the time lights blink on top of any potential wind tower structures in DeWitt County.

Tom Swierczewski is lead project manager for Tradewind Energy for the proposed Alta Farms II wind project in DeWitt County and indicates their commitment to using the latest technology to limit the flashing red lights could be something Illinois has never seen in wind development.

According to Swierczewski, the County Board approved a change in the text amendment regarding the blinking lights. For Tradewind, it is something they agreed to as well to make the project more appealing.

Friday morning on the WHOW Morning Show, when asked if that was official, Swierczewski told Regional Radio News, quote - "we are committed to it. If this project gets built, we will be using aircraft detection lighting of some kind."

You can hear the County Board's special meeting Thursday night, in its entirety, starting at 5 pm on all of WHOW's platforms at The Big 1520 AM/92.3 FM/106.5 FM WHOW. Online at dewittdailynews.com, the WHOW mobile app and on Amazon Alexa. v
