Blue Ridge School Board Welcomes New Members

The Blue Ridge Board of Education welcomed three new board members earlier this month following the April 2 election.

Superintendent Susan Wilson told Regional Radio News Thursday morning on the WHOW Morning Show they will welcome their new board members Monday night at a special meeting.

Schools are very complex as mandates and funding are very strict and Wilson says it can take a new board member about a year to get a good grasp of all the intricacies of the school board.

The challenges in education in Illinois are extensive as leadership in Springfield is transitioning and unresolved issues continue to build. Wilson believes the top challenge in Blue Ridge is the teacher shortage.

New board members have gone through a crash course with Wilson and her Board President. They go through everything from finances to the curriculum.
