Central Illinois Lawmakers Estimates Governor Six Weeks Behind in Budgeting Process

Central Illinois Republican Senator Chapin Rose estimates Governor JB Pritzker is about six weeks behind in the budgeting process.

Lawmakers return to Springfield this week to begin the heavy lifting on the upcoming budget. Sen. Rose says first-term Governor Pritzker has been slow to name leads for his various departments and believes that is putting him behind in getting a budget proposal together.

According to Sen. Rose, Democrats are throwing out proposals that cost much more money than the state has and he believes the realization "money doesn't grow on trees" is starting to catch up to them.

While Rose predicts the Governor is behind in his budgeting process, he anticipates Illinois Democrats passing a budget by May 31.
