Vaughn Taylor Wins At Pebble Beach

Vaughn Taylor has played in 288 PGA Tour events. He hasn't won a single one since he took the Reno-Tahoe Open in August 2005. That's 11 years, if you're scoring at home. Last week, he withdrew from a Web.com event in Colombia. He withdrew from a Web.com event last week. Taylor has no status on either tour and was playing the Pebble Beach Pro-Am because he's a past champion on the PGA Tour. Another lifetime ago.

On Sunday, he took down Phil Mickelson with a 17-under 270.

Taylor closed with a 65 on Sunday that included improbable birdies at Nos. 13, 14, 15 and 16. It took a missed Phil Mickelson 5-footer on the final hole before he could breathe easy, but then the tears flowed.

Jordan Spieth could only muster a 280 this week and tied for 21st with PGA Tour stalwarts such as Bronson Burgoon and Spencer Levin.
