Sages Race Past Decatur St. Teresa For Regional Title

The Monticello Sages opened the game with eight straight points, setting the tone for a dominating Regional title win over Decatur St. Teresa, 78-62, at the Argenta-Oreana Regional.

 

Zach Fisher scored 23 of his 29 points in the first half, including 6-for-6 from 3-point range and Noah Freemon added 20 points as the Sages dominated from start to finish for their third Regional title in four years. The Sages shot 68% from the floor, including nine three point field goals. 

 

Rashan Smith scored 13 of his team-high 19 poitns in the second half and was 9-for-10 from the free throw line. JaCoby Boston scored 11 points and Jacardia Wright added ten points.

The Bulldogs finish their season at 19-10.

 

The Sages improve to 17-8 and will take on St. Joseph-Ogden Tuesday night in Sectional semifinal action at St. Joe-Ogden High School.

 

The Spartans edged past Bloomington Central Catholic 67-66 in overtime for a Regional title of their own at Tri-Valley.
