Clinton Community YMCA Otters Swim Team competed this past weekend at the 2016 Illini District Junior District Championship Meet held in Mattoon, Illinois. The meet was well attended by 11 teams from all over the district with a total of 221 swimmers. The Clinton Community YMCA Otters had 26 swimmers that competed, earning 12 first place medals, 9 second place medals, and 8 third place medals.
Several of the Otters achieved new personal best times at Junior Districts, achieving both District and State times. Some of the standouts for personal best times include:
Abi Moser (7) dropped 22 seconds in the Girls 8 & Under 100 IM with a time of 2:20.05 earning her fourth place.
Joshua Johnson (14) dropped 7.97 seconds in the Boys 13-14 100 Fly with a time of 1:30.20 winning a spot in third place.
Kasandra Adcock (12) dropped 5.96 seconds off of her Girls 11-12 50 Fly with a time of 40.08 which put her in fifth place.
Jacob Zirkelback (5) dropped 5.83 seconds off his personal best time in the Boys 6 & Under 50 Free with a time of 57.05 giving him second place.
Kate Goebel (8) dropped 1.72 seconds in the Girls 7-8 25 Back with a time of 21.38 earning her a first place win and a chance to compete at State.
The 2016 Illini District Junior District Championship Meet was a great experience for the Clinton Otters. They have worked hard this season to get to this point and we are very proud of all that they have accomplished.
