Mets Harvey Declared Ready For Opening Day

Mets right-hander Matt Harvey, who recently has been dealing with some kind of mystery malady that left his Opening Day status in question, will instead be able to answer the bell for the start of the season. As for his physical condition, WFAN's Ed Coleman reports that it was "blood clots in his bladder," which has now been cleared up following a procedure. While that certainly sounds unpleasant in the extreme, at least it's not an arm problem.

Harvey, who just recently turned 27, owns an ERA+ of 144 across parts of three big-league seasons. In 2015, his comeback season after undergoing Tommy John surgery, Harvey pitched to a 2.71 ERA and 5.08 K/BB ratio in 189 1/3 innings. Needless to say, he's a vital part of the Mets' hopes in 2016.
