>>Blackhawks' Keith Faces Lengthy Suspension for High Sticking

The NHL's Department of Player Safety announced Wednesday that Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith has been offered an in-person hearing to address the high-sticking incident that saw him ejected from Tuesday night's game against the Minnesota Wild. By offering Keith an in-person hearing, the department opens up the possibility of suspending the star defenseman for six or more games.

Keith received a five-minute major and match penalty Tuesday night after he violently swung his stick at Wild forward Charlie Coyle while Keith was seated on the ice. He struck Coyle in the nose, opening up a cut.

Keith received a match penalty, which differs from a game misconduct, he is already automatically suspended one game. However, he can expect to get more games tacked on. It is fairly rare for a player to receive an offer for an in-person hearing and not be suspended five or more games.

Keith was suspended one game for swinging his stick at Jeff Carter's face, causing an injury, during Game 3 of the Western Conference finals. Keith claimed after the game that it was an accident.

Carter required 20 stiches and had some of his teeth damaged by Keith's upward swing.

>>Authorities Drop Revenge Porn Case Against Blackhawks Prospect

The pending court case against Chicago Blackhawks prospect and Rockford IceHogs forward Garret Ross has been dismissed. Ross was facing a felony charge under Illinois' "revenge porn" law, or more specifically, the nonconsensual dissemination of a private sexual image.

According to the Chicago Tribune, authorities in DeKalb County had no jurisdiction to charge Ross.

More from the Tribune, quote - "Prosecutors decided to drop the case after learning that Ross was in his home state of Michigan when he shared the image, meaning Illinois law enforcement would have no jurisdiction over the case. The case was officially dropped Tuesday afternoon, DeKalb County State's Attorney Richard Schmack said."

The Blackhawks announced that Ross has been reinstated and will be able to rejoin the IceHogs.
