HS BOYS BASEBALL: Warrensburg-Latham Tops Clinton

The Warrensburg-Latham Cardinals boys baseball team opened a 10-1 lead on the Clinton Maroons Tuesday afternoon at Clinton High School and rolled in Okaw Valley baseball action 11-3.

 

The Cardinals scored in each of the first four frames off Maroons starter Wesley Conn and Christian Hunt in relief, and the Maroons bats came alive late, but it was too little, too late.

 

Garrett Shea and Jordan Scrimpsher tallied three RBIs apiece for the Cardinals and Jordan Napier added a pair of RBIs as the Maroons committed five errors.

 

Shea finished 2-for-4 with a triple and Scrimpsher was 3-for-5 with a double. Jacob Napier was 3-for-5 with two runs batted in and a double. Austin Hardin was 3-for-4 and Collin Swallow was 2-for-4 from the plate and pitched six innings on the mound for his fourth win of the season.

 

The Maroons were lead by Jacob Overton, who was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs. Trenton Fryman also finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and Conn added a double.

 

The Maroons 3-9 overall and 0-4 in the Central Illinois Conference.

 

Warrensburg-Latham improves to 12-3 and is 3-1  CIC play.
