Late Surge Sends Monticello Past St. Thomas More

The Monticello Sages broke a 2-all tie with three runs in the top of the sixth inning, sending them past Champaign St. Thomas More, 6-2, Thursday afternoon in Okaw Valley boys baseball action from Champaign.

 

Logan Hislope paced Monticello with a 2-for-4 afternoon including an RBI and a run scored.

Luke Stokowski finished 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.

 

Nathan Graham scored twice for the Sages and Jacob Burton and Austin Wiggins recorded RBIs.

Garrett Myers went the distance on the mound for the Sages, finishing in seven innings allowing two runs on eight hits, issuing a walk and struck out five.

 

The win is the sixth straight for Monticello as they improve to 13-5 on the year.

 

The Sages are at Tri-Valley today in Downs and play Olympia at the Normal Corn Crib on Saturday afternoon.
