Three-Run 7th Inning Lifts Maroons Past Sullivan

Trailing 3-2 headed to the final frame, the Clinton Maroons scored three runs and Nolan Hickman secured the win in the bottom half of the fram and the Maroons beat Sullivan 5-3 in Central Illinois Conference boys baseball action Thursday.

Wesley Conn was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning then Jacob Overton walked. After a sac-bunt by Travis Osgood moved runners to second and third, Mac Hickman tied the game with a sac fly RBI that scored Conn. 

 

Travis Fryman walked to put runners at first and second then Christian Hunt came on to hit for Dalton Smith and got a base hit to left, scoring Overton, putting Clinton up 4-3. 

 

Dylan Walsh added to the lead with a double to right, soring Fryman and Clinton led 5-3. 

Walsh finished 3-for-4 with a pair of RBIs and Fryman was 1-for-2.

 

Nolan Hickman got the win on the mound, pitching three scoreless innings in relief of starter Osgood. Hickman allowed a hit and struck out four to zero walks.

 

Osgood pitched the first four innings, allowing three runs, two earned on four hits with a walk and eight strikeouts.

 

The Maroons move to 5-18 on the year and 2-11 in the CIC.
